How This Site Is Funded

Amazon affiliate commission, disclosed everywhere it applies - and why there are no prices here.

Short answer

Hitch & Sway earns affiliate commission through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you buy after following a link from this site, we receive a percentage at no extra cost to you. Commission never influences a verdict or a ranking.

Every product link on this site goes through our own `/go/` address first, which immediately redirects you to Amazon with our Associates tag attached. That indirection exists so that destinations live in one configuration file rather than being typed into page after page - which is what keeps a wrong or stale link from spreading across the site.

Those links carry `rel="sponsored nofollow"`, which is how Google asks publishers to mark commercial links. Editorial links - to manufacturers' specification pages and to the regulations - are not marked that way, because they are genuine references and we earn nothing on them.

Where disclosure appears

  • Above the first affiliate link on every page that carries one.
  • Underneath every buy button, as an `#ad` marker with a link back to this page.
  • In the footer of every page on the site.
  • Here, in full.

Why there are no prices

There is no live price feed on this site. Rather than publish figures that would go stale - and a stale price is actively misleading, not merely unhelpful - every button reads "Check price on Amazon" and sends you to the retailer, where the current price is shown. No ranges, no was-and-now comparisons, no claims about deals.

Which merchants we work with

Amazon, and at present only Amazon. We are not part of any other retailer's affiliate program, and we do not build tracked links for programs we have not joined. Where this site links to a manufacturer's own website - CURT, Blue Ox, Equal-i-zer and others - those are specification references and we earn nothing from them.

What this does not change

Several pages here conclude that you should buy nothing: that your tongue weight is fine, that a weight distribution hitch would be money wasted on your setup, or that the fault is a ground bolt rather than a part. Those conclusions are the point of the site, and the commission structure does not get a vote on them. The editorial policy sets out the rest.
